Spring is just around the corner! It is the season of renewal, growth, and fresh beginnings. As nature blooms, it's the perfect time to refresh and rejuvenate your body. Just like how we typically clean our homes, it’s equally important to perform a little "spring cleaning" for ourselves to improve overall wellness. This doesn’t just mean decluttering your living space, but also decluttering your mind, body, and spirit.

Here’s a guide to help you spring clean your body, boost your energy, and feel your best all season long.

1. Hydrate to Refresh

Water is essential for every cell in your body. Staying hydrated is one of the simplest ways to improve your health. During the winter months, many of us neglect our water intake, but now is the perfect time to refresh and reset. Hydration helps flush toxins from your system, supports digestion, and keeps your skin glowing. Take your current body weight and divide it by two. If you weigh 120lbs., you need approximately 60 ounces of water. Keep in mind this is the minimum amount of water you need. If you are exercising, or are in a hotter environment, you need more. If you’re looking for extra benefits, try adding lemon, cucumber, or mint to your water for added flavor and detoxification. Fruits like watermelon and veggies like cucumber also add to your overall water intake. Unsweetened teas and black coffee count too!

2. Detox Your Diet

Just like cleaning out your pantry, it's time to clear out any unhealthy habits and refocus on nourishing foods. Spring is the season for fresh fruits and vegetables, so take advantage of what’s in season—think leafy greens, asparagus, strawberries, and radishes. A simple way to detox your diet is by eliminating processed foods, excess sugar, and unhealthy fats. Opt for whole, nutrient-dense foods that fuel your body and support your immune system. Try incorporating smoothies, and homemade soups. These foods provide essential vitamins and antioxidants to help cleanse your body from the inside out. Don’t forget about the importance of fiber! It supports digestion and helps maintain a healthy gut. Check out some of my favorite fiber and protein packed meals here.

3. Sweat It Out: Movement for Wellness

After a long winter, it's easy to fall into a sedentary lifestyle, but moving your body is an essential part of spring cleaning for your health. Regular movement and physical activity boosts your mood, strengthens your muscles, and increases circulation, helping to clear out toxins. Aim for a combination of cardio, strength training, and flexibility exercises to support both your physical and mental well-being. Break your movement moments into 10 minute sessions. An easy way to work a movement routine into your day is to climb a set of stairs for 5 minutes, and then walk outside, or around your office for another 5 minutes. For your second 10 minute session alternate between body-weight squats and push-ups (on your knees, toes, or even against the wall). For your last 10 minute session grab a friend, family member, or pet and walk outside. Moving outdoors connects you to nature and helps clear your mind, while also improving your fitness.

4. Mindful Practices for Mental Clarity

Spring cleaning isn't only about physical wellness; it's also a great time to clear your mental clutter. In our busy lives, we often carry around stress, worries, and negative thoughts that affect our mental and emotional health. This season, try incorporating mindful practices into your daily routine. Start by taking a few minutes each day to meditate or practice deep breathing exercises. Even five to ten minutes can significantly reduce stress and anxiety, helping you feel grounded and centered. You can practice mindfulness by simply focusing on your morning coffee.

Next time you pour a cup think about how it smells, look at the color, feel the warmth of the mug in your hands, or how it tastes in your mouth. Not a coffee drinker - take a walking meditation. Think about the sound your feet make against the pavement, look at your surroundings, and listen to the sounds around you. Believe it or not, this is also a form of meditation! Journaling is another great way to declutter your mind. Write down your thoughts, goals, and anything that may be weighing you down. This will give you clarity and help you release anything holding you back from feeling your best.

5. Rejuvenate Your Skin with a Cleanse

Spring is the ideal time to refresh your skin after the harsh winter weather. The cold air can leave your skin dry and dull, but a little spring cleaning can revitalize it. Start by exfoliating to remove dead skin cells and reveal a brighter complexion. Choose a gentle scrub to resurface your skin. Next, invest in a hydrating moisturizer and sunscreen. Here are some of my favorites. Spring often brings more sunlight, and protecting your skin from harmful UV rays is essential. Finally, don’t forget to hydrate your skin from the inside out by drinking plenty of water and eating skin-boosting foods like avocados, nuts, and seeds. Add an extra boost to your water with this amazing collagen that improves skin’s moisture, elasticity, and gives you that glow!

6. Declutter Your Sleep Routine

A good night’s sleep is crucial to wellness. Spring cleaning your sleep routine involves setting a new intention for rest and recovery. Start by establishing a consistent sleep schedule and sticking to it, even on weekends. Create a calming bedtime routine that might include reading a book, meditating, or taking a warm bath to help relax your mind and body. Make sure your sleep environment is conducive to restful sleep—this means ensuring your bedroom is cool, quiet, and dark. Spring cleaning your sleep routine means giving yourself the opportunity to recharge and wake up feeling refreshed each morning. Try some of these sleep solutions today for a better tomorrow.

7. Take Time for Self-Care

Finally, spring cleaning your body also means taking time for self-care. This could be anything from scheduling a massage or spa day, taking a nature walk, practicing gratitude, or simply indulging in a hobby that brings you joy. Investing time in your mental, emotional, and physical well-being is essential to maintaining a balanced and healthy life. Spring cleaning for your body isn’t just about external appearances, it’s

about fostering a healthier relationship with yourself. By focusing on nourishing foods, hydration, movement, mindfulness, and self-care, you’ll not only feel better but also have the energy and clarity to take on whatever the season brings your way.

This spring, refresh, recharge, and reset your body and mind. Take small steps each day to create lasting changes that will boost your wellness, improve your mood, and help you live your best life. So, here’s to a fresh start!
